This Explorer 22 is 22’x11′, weighs about 1700 lbs and can carry 1800 lbs. It uses a VW TDi 2.0L 4 cylinder diesel for power. The electronically managed engine delivers 84 hp for at top speed of 40mph on water and a 30 mph cruise at half throttle.

Exploration awaits
The designer has taken 500 mile trips through the Puget Sound with the 14′ Vanguard 18 hp version of this design. You can read about the trip here. In fair conditions you can travel in open water between islands. Explore areas rarely seen by others. River deltas, estuaries, mudflats, rivers during low water and high.
